Sunkar Almaty is situated in the heart of the picturesque Trans-Ili Kazakh Alatau Mountains, making it an ideal spot for skiing. The ski resort includes 8 different trails suited for all tastes, ranging from easy to difficult. Ski season usually begins in December and lasts through April, with the best time to ski being in late January and February. The Almaty Ski resort has a ski school, rental and repair shop, ski lift passes, equipment rentals, and rescue services. Visitors can take the ski lift to the top of the mountain and ski down either the alpine trails designated for expert skiers or the gentle half-pipes and cross-country trails designated for beginners.
