Aspen Mountain (often called by its former name of Ajax among locals) is a ski area in the western United States, located in Pitkin County, Colorado, just outside and above the city of Aspen. It is situated on the north flank of Aspen Mountain (for which it is named) and the higher Bell Mountain at an elevation of 11,212 ft (3,417 m), just to the south of Aspen Mountain.

Aspen is known for its world-class skiing. The Aspen Snowmass ski resort is an international ski destination, renowned for its top-notch skiing and snowboarding as well as its stunning views. Aspen is overflowing with steep, challenging terrain coupled with unforgettable scenery. Visitors to Aspen can enjoy four mountains including Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands, and Aspen Mountain. There are more than 5,300 acres of skiable terrain, 300 inches of annual snowfall, and 21 total ski lifts. Aspen Snowmass is suitable for all ages and ability levels, with plenty of terrain and ski runs for experts and novices alike.
Aspen is a stunningly beautiful mountain town in Colorado and a popular destination for hikers. The surrounding mountain peaks, lush forests and beautiful meadows make for incredible hikes that are suitable for all skill levels. Hikers can take their pick from half-day hikes to multi-day backpacking trips around the Maroon Bells, scenic day hikes up the nearby Four Mountain Pass, and even explore nearby ghost towns. Aspen also offers plenty of trails for more experienced hikers seeking a vigorous outdoor adventure.
